Sir Paul McCartney has won GQ's Man Of The Year award for 2006.

The former Beatle was noted for his latest album, as well as his recent successful tour of America.

GQ editor Dylan Jones justified: "Paul McCartney is not only one of our greatest living legends, he's also probably the most dignified."

The female equivalent, Woman Of The Year, was taken by actress Billie Piper for her role in Dr. Who.

Other notable winners from the London ceremony include Jeremy Clarkson (TV Personality Of The Year), Ricky Gervais (Comedian Of The Year) and Rod Stewart, who was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement prize.
